BP's Atlantis Expansion Project Begins Production, Adding 10,000 Barrels Per Day
BP has started production at its Atlantis expansion project in the U.S. Gulf of America/Mexico, adding 10,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day to the company's output.
The project, which was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, involves the installation of two new subsea water injection wells, new subsea trees, and topside water injection pumps.
According to BP, the expansion will extend the operational life of the Atlantis field, one of the company's key deepwater assets. The project also provides additional water injection capacity that could support future development at the field.
The Atlantis field, discovered in 1998, operates in water depths of about 7,074 feet and holds a 56% working interest for BP, with partner Woodside Energy owning the remaining 44%.
