Brazil Oil and Gas Production Hits Record High in August 2026
Brazil's oil and gas production reached a milestone in August 2026, according to data released by ANP. The country produced 6.002 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) of oil and natural gas, marking an increase of 2.6% compared to the previous month.
The pre-salt layer accounted for 82.6% of Brazilian production, with a total output of 4.959 million boe/d. This represents a growth of 2.9% compared to July and 23% compared to August 2025.
Natural gas utilization was high in August, at 98.1%. A total of 69.41 million m³/d was made available to the market, with flaring amounting to 4.16 million m³/d - a reduction of 14.8% compared to August 2025.
The Búzios field in the Santos Basin pre-salt area was the largest oil producer in August, recording 1.172 million bbl/d. Meanwhile, the Mero field produced the most natural gas, with 48.93 million m³/d.
