Brent Crude Regains $100 as Dollar Rises, Yields Climb
The European session saw Brent crude retake $100 as the dollar rose and yields climbed. Oil prices had slipped below this threshold earlier due to US-Iran talks, but Trump's comments poured cold water on expectations of an early end to the conflict.
Gold fell back to the major $4,300 support ahead of key US data, with traders awaiting new developments in the US-Iran situation. The dollar led gains against other currencies, while the yen lagged behind.
The euro area PMI data showed stronger economic activity and growing price pressures, keeping the ECB rate hike debate alive for the October meeting. European indices were dragged lower as a result, with stocks slipping in broader markets. Tech shares held up well initially but soon followed suit.
