Brent Falls Below $101 as Geopolitical Tensions Remain Elevated
Indian equity markets are expected to open flat on Monday due to muted sentiment, according to analysts. The Brent crude price has slipped to around $101 per barrel after declining by 0.78% overnight.
The recent attacks claimed by the Houthis in Saudi Arabia have not had a significant impact on oil prices, despite concerns over regional energy supplies. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell 0.89% to $99.41 a barrel.
Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, noted that Indian equity markets are likely to open on a flat note, with GIFT Nifty holding above 23,300 against the Nifty 50's previous close of 23,346.
Geopolitical risks remain a key source of uncertainty, as per Ponmudi, who warned that any renewed escalation could trigger volatility across crude oil, currencies, and global equities.
