The state-owned Bulgarian energy company Bulgargaz has proposed a nearly 6% increase in natural gas prices for October. According to the proposal, the price would be EUR 44.08 per megawatt-hour, excluding access and transmission fees, excise duty, and VAT.

This price is higher than the EUR 41.60 per megawatt-hour approved for September, which was a 5.5% increase over August's prices. The proposed price includes costs associated with gas storage at the Chiren underground facility as part of Bulgargaz's obligations under an emergency action plan.

The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission will review the application in a public meeting before making a final decision on the October gas price in a closed session.
