Bulgaria's Bulgargaz Enters Serbian Gas Market

The Bulgarian state-owned company Bulgargaz has received a 10-year license for wholesale natural gas supplies in Serbia, marking its entry into the Serbian market. This move may intensify competition for industrial customers, according to Parametar, a Serbian business media outlet.

Bulgargaz already holds licenses and permits to trade and supply gas in several Central and Southeastern European countries, including Greece, Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia. The company operates in Moldova through its subsidiary Bulgargaz North.

The significance of this decision lies in the interconnector with Bulgaria, which has a capacity of approximately 1.8 billion cubic meters per year. This means that Azerbaijani gas and LNG arriving in the region through Greek terminals can be delivered to Serbia via Bulgaria.
