Bulgaria's Gas Price Hike Sparks Protests and Calls for Resignation
The leader of the Bulgarian party 'Unruly Bulgaria', Cornelia Ninova, has expressed her disapproval of the recent decision by the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (KEVR) to increase the price of natural gas. The new price is set at 44.09 euros/MWh, excluding access and transmission fees, excise duty, and VAT.
This represents a 5.99% increase from the September price of 41.60 euros/MWh. Ninova sees this as another blow to the economy and the people, questioning where the promised progress is for the standard of living. She believes that the higher gas prices will lead to new increases in goods and services.
Ninova has called on President Radev to take a public position on the issue, asking why he does not address 'a single painful issue'. The leader also urged protests and resignation from the government due to what she considers as price hikes and tax increases that are detrimental to the economy and people.
The decision by KEVR has been met with criticism, and Ninova's statement reflects the growing concern among Bulgarians about the rising prices and their impact on living standards.
