Gold futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives saw a decline on Monday, despite gains in gold prices on the US Commodity Exchange (COMEX). The new spot-month October 2026 contract dropped to US$4,178.40 per troy ounce from US$4,216.10, while the November 2026 contract also fell to US$4,195.40 from US$4,232.80. Similarly, the December 2026 contract decreased to US$4,212.00 per troy ounce from US$4,232.80, with the January 2027, February 2027, and April 2027 contracts each declining to US$4,212.00 from US$4,232.80.

Trading volume for gold futures increased to 161 lots from 144 on the previous Friday, while open interest rose to 228 contracts from 212. Physical gold was fixed at US$4,190.05 per troy ounce at the London Bullion Market Association's afternoon fix on October 2, 2026.

The decline in gold futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives contrasts with the gains observed on COMEX, highlighting the divergence in market sentiment between the two exchanges. This movement suggests varying factors influencing gold prices in different regions.
