Canadian Grain Deliveries and Exports Surge in Week 8
Canadian grain handling activity saw a significant uptick across most major categories in the week ending September 27, 2026, according to the latest Grain Statistics Weekly report from the Canadian Grain Commission. Total producer deliveries surged to about 2.24 million tonnes, a substantial increase from the previous week's 1.52 million tonnes and a notable rise from the 1.09 million tonnes recorded in the same week the prior year. Wheat deliveries led the increase, reaching about 1.02 million tonnes, up from 573,300 tonnes the previous week. Canola deliveries also saw a sharp rise to about 707,500 tonnes from 531,800 tonnes a week earlier.
On a crop-year-to-date basis, total producer deliveries stood at about 10.91 million tonnes, nearly matching the 10.95 million tonnes reported a year earlier. Wheat deliveries to date reached about 4.30 million tonnes, exceeding the 4.15 million tonnes recorded at the same point last year. Canola deliveries to date rose to about 3.07 million tonnes from 2.52 million tonnes a year earlier. However, amber durum deliveries to date were about 584,500 tonnes, below the 931,200 tonnes reported the previous year.
Terminal receipts totaled about 1.16 million tonnes in Week 8, up from about 1.10 million tonnes the previous week and above the 709,500 tonnes reported a year earlier. Exports from licensed facilities also climbed to about 837,400 tonnes, up from about 652,000 tonnes the prior week and above the 581,000 tonnes reported in the same week last year. Wheat exports accounted for about 454,600 tonnes of the weekly total, while amber durum exports were about 95,800 tonnes and canola exports about 130,700 tonnes.
Domestic disappearance was about 542,200 tonnes in Week 8, up from about 406,100 tonnes the previous week and above the 335,800 tonnes reported a year earlier. Canola accounted for about 307,900 tonnes of the weekly domestic disappearance figure. Crop-year-to-date domestic disappearance reached about 4.03 million tonnes, compared with about 3.36 million tonnes a year earlier. Commercial stocks at licensed facilities totaled about 6.75 million tonnes as of the end of Week 8, up from about 6.32 million tonnes in the previous week.
