CBOT Futures Rise for Wheat, Corn, Soybeans Amid Strong Demand
The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) saw futures for wheat, corn, and soybeans rise on September 15. Wheat was boosted by strong import demand and a reduced crop forecast in France.
Algeria purchased approximately 500 thousand tons of milling wheat through a tender at around $319-$321/t C&F. The French agriculture ministry lowered its estimate for 2026 wheat production to 31.7 million tons, down by 0.2 million tons from previous estimates.
Corn futures increased on the possibility that rainfall could slow the US harvest across parts of the Midwest. Brazil's corn crop is also expected to increase, with CONAB raising its estimate for the 2025/26 crop to 144 million tons and issuing an initial forecast of 148 million tons for the 2026/27 crop.
Soybean futures showed stronger gains due to potential disruptions in harvesting caused by forecast rains. Brazil's soybean crop is also expected to increase, with CONAB estimating the 2025/26 crop at 180.4 million tons and predicting a first forecast of 181.64 million tons for the 2026/27 crop.
