CENTCOM Strikes Iranian Oil Carriers in Retaliation for Attack on US Warships

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that it disabled three Iranian crude oil carriers in response to an IRGC-launched attack on two US Navy warships operating in regional waters. The incident occurred on September 5, after multiple Iranian attacks were repelled by the American vessels.

CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper stated, 'Let the message to the IRGC be clear: If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost, taking out three of yours.'

The US forces struck and disabled the M/T Downy off the coast of Kharg Island and the M/T Stark 1 near Jask. The M/T Kylo was completely destroyed in the Gulf of Oman after its crew had been directed to abandon ship.
