Central Banks Fuel Gold Rally with Record Purchases
Central banks continue to add gold to their reserves at an accelerated pace. The World Gold Council reported that central banks bought 288.9 tonnes of gold in the second quarter of this year, a 62% increase from the same period last year.
This marks a sharp recovery from the revised 56.5 tonnes recorded in the first quarter and returns official demand to strong levels seen over the past four years.
Gold has become more valuable than it was a year ago, with the average LBMA gold price reaching $4,506.29 per ounce in Q2 this year, which is 37% above the Q2 2025 average.
