Chennai Gold Prices Surge as 22K and 18K Rates Rise

Chennai's gold prices surged on August 24, 2026, as per the latest morning rates released by the Madras Jewellers & Diamond Traders Association (MJDTA). The 22-carat gold rate increased by ₹80 per gram, jumping from ₹14,950 to ₹15,030 per gram. The 18-carat gold rate also rose by ₹70 per gram, moving from ₹12,730 to ₹12,800 per gram.

The silver rate gained ₹5 per gram, rising from ₹270 to ₹275 per gram. Both 22K and 18K gold prices in Chennai moved higher in today's morning update, indicating an overall increase in precious metal rates compared with the previous update.

According to the MJDTA morning update, gold and silver prices can fluctuate during the day based on various factors such as international market trends, currency movements, interest rates, inflation, geopolitical developments, and local demand.
