Chicago Agricultural Futures Decline Amid US-China Trade Uncertainty

The major agricultural futures in Chicago declined on Monday, September 28. Wheat futures fell by 2.06% to $253.07 per ton, while corn lost 0.99% to $205.91 per ton. November soybean futures dropped by 2.33% to $473.34 per ton.

The market faced additional pressure due to uncertainty over US-China trade arrangements. Although wheat and corn were included among the products for which China agreed to cut duties, traders do not expect a rapid increase in purchases of US grain. Soybeans, on the other hand, were excluded from the tariff relief.

US wheat exports in the week ending September 24 totaled 310.6 thousand tons, while shipments since the start of the marketing year reached 6.343 million tons, down 34.4% year on year. Corn exports since the start of 2026/27 reached 5.726 million tons, 12.1% above last year's pace.
