China leads global mineral fuel production, accounting for nearly 29% of total output in 2024. The country produced 4.8 billion metric tons of mineral fuels last year, with coal being its main contributor.

The United States ranks second, producing 2.27 billion metric tons of mineral fuels, or 13.5% of the global total. Unlike China's coal-dominated output, petroleum and natural gas account for the majority of U.S. mineral fuel production.

Asia-Pacific is the clear leader in regional production, accounting for half of the world's mineral fuel output. China, the United States, Russia, India, and Indonesia are among the top five countries in terms of mineral fuel production.
