China Dominates Global Oil Imports as Asia Faces Supply Disruptions
According to the OPEC Annual Statistical Bulletin 2026, China was the largest oil importer in 2025, accounting for 18.1% of the world total with 13.8 million barrels per day.
This is nearly twice the amount imported by the United States, which came in second at 7.9 million barrels per day.
Asia-Pacific received half of the world's oil imports in 2025, with China, India, South Korea, and Japan alone accounting for over a third of the global total.
Singapore and the Netherlands ranked sixth and seventh despite their relatively small domestic markets, reflecting their roles as major refining and trading hubs.
