U.S. farmers are watching trade talks between Washington and Beijing with bated breath as the outcome could influence billions of dollars in U.S. farm exports and commodity prices.

The central question for grain markets is whether China will provide greater clarity on agricultural buying, including a reported $17 billion in non-soybean U.S. farm goods.

Soybean traders are also monitoring Beijing's progress toward a 25-million-metric-ton purchase target, with November soybeans gaining 5.25 cents overnight to $13.2325 per bushel.
