China's Corn Crop Expansion Boosts 2026 Grain Harvest Prospects
China's agriculture ministry is optimistic about the country's grain harvest for 2026, citing a strong foundation in seasonal results. The summer grain production exceeded 150 million tons for the first time this year, while early rice output remained above 28 million tons for six consecutive years.
The autumn crops, which account for most of China's annual grain production, are currently being harvested. According to the ministry, the planted area under these crops has expanded, with a notable increase in high-yielding crops like corn.
This expansion is expected to support overall grain production and strengthen domestic feed grain supplies. The ministry also stated that despite global market volatility, China has a solid production base to maintain stable food and grain supplies.
