CME Group Expands 24/7 Silver Trading to Meet Investor Demand
CME Group is expanding its 24/7 trading to include the 100-Ounce Silver futures contract from September 11, pending regulatory review. This move comes after a successful launch of weekend trading in 1-Ounce Gold futures on July 24, which has seen over $219 million in notional value traded.
The expansion is expected to provide investors with greater flexibility and access to the silver market. According to Jin Hennig, Managing Director and Global Head of Metals at CME Group, 'Silver bridges the precious and industrial metals worlds, acting as a diversifier for investors that responds to both macroeconomic news and real-world demand.'
The 100-Ounce Silver futures contract is designed to be right-sized for retail trading, with a smaller notional exposure. It is financially-settled based on the daily settlement price of the global benchmark COMEX 5,000-Ounce Silver futures contract.
