CME Group Extends Silver Futures Trading to 24/7 Schedule
CME Group is set to introduce 24/7 trading for its 100-ounce silver futures contract, pending regulatory approval. The move follows the success of round-the-clock gold futures trading, which was launched on July 24, 2026.
The 100-ounce silver futures contract has already shown consistent trading volume, averaging 17,800 contracts per day during the first half of 2026. This contract is financially settled and tracks the daily settlement price of the larger, benchmark 5,000-ounce COMEX silver futures contract.
The growth in precious metals trading is also evident in India's local market, where silver jewellery hallmarking has seen a significant increase. According to data from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the number of hallmarked silver articles rose to 5.9 million in the 2025-26 fiscal year, up from 3.2 million in 2024-25.
