CNG Prices Hike by Rs 2/kg in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Due to Global Energy Disruptions

CNG prices in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad have increased by Rs 2 per kg, effective from September 1. The new rate is now Rs 97.75 per kg, inclusive of all taxes.

The hike has been attributed to the renewed tensions in West Asia, which have disrupted the movement of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cargo ships through the Strait of Hormuz. This key route for global energy trade has resulted in a surge in global LNG prices, nearly doubling them since July.

Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL), the company supplying CNG in the region, stated that the price revision is only a part of the increase in its input costs.
