Colombia Declares Temporary Natural Gas Rationing Amid Technical Issue

The Ministry of Mines and Energy in Colombia has announced that due to a technical issue affecting SPEC LNG's regasification infrastructure, a temporary natural gas rationing will be implemented. This measure aims to reorganize supply and prioritize essential demand, including households, hospitals, schools, mass transit, and other vital users.

The scheduled rationing is set to affect only those with valid contracts who are not considered priority users. The Ministry states that the necessary inspection and correction activities will be carried out on the regasification infrastructure as soon as possible.

According to the Ministry's press release, the temporary reduction in delivery capacity of imported gas necessitates this precautionary measure to ensure continuity of supply for essential users. The rationing is expected to be lifted once SPEC LNG confirms that the technical condition has been resolved and delivery capacity is restored.
