Romania's Port of Constanta has gained a major boost in its grain handling capacity following the completion of a €23 million expansion project at the Canopus terminal. Transport Trade Services (TTS), the operator behind the project, invested heavily to upgrade infrastructure and increase storage capacity.

The new facilities include six vertical steel silos with an individual capacity of 11,000 tons each, as well as five secondary buffer silos that can store up to 825 tons apiece. The expansion also saw the installation of new conveyors, bucket elevators, and weighing stations on the vessel-loading line.

The upgraded terminal now boasts a total static storage capacity of 180,000 metric tons, representing a significant increase from the previous 110,000 metric tons. This enhancement is expected to strengthen logistics corridors for European and Black Sea grain exports, providing agricultural trading houses with greater supply chain resilience and lower operational bottlenecks.
