Copper Prices Fall, Aluminum Rises in Latest Scrap Metal Report

The latest scrap metal price report from Scrapmonster indicates mixed movements across North American markets as of August 10, 2026. Copper prices declined for most categories, while aluminum prices increased.

Copper and Wire Scrap saw significant drops in value, with #1 Copper Wire and Tubing falling by $0.13 per pound and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also dropping by the same amount compared to the prior day. Other copper categories, such as #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Insulated Copper Wire (85% recovery), and #3 Copper-Light, saw decreases of $0.13, $0.03, and $0.13 per pound respectively.

However, not all copper categories fell in value. Copper Radiator scrap decreased by $0.05 per pound, and Cu Yokes dropped by $0.01 per pound. On the other hand, some copper grades remained unchanged, including Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu/Al Radiator Ends, and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe.

On a more positive note, aluminum prices increased across several categories, including 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels, and 6063 Extrusions. Breakage (50% recovery) and Chrome Wheels also rose by $0.01 per pound. E.C. Aluminum Wire jumped by $0.02 per pound.
