Copper Prices Stung by Energy Costs, China Industrial Weakness
Copper prices are on track for their biggest weekly loss since May due to high energy costs and China's stuttering industrial sector.
Futures on the London Metal Exchange (LME) rose above $14,300 a ton on Friday as the dollar dipped, but still finished about 2% lower for the week.
The gains in oil prices driven by developments in the US-Iran war, along with data indicating industrial weakness in top consumer China, have weighed on copper prices in recent sessions.
