US Deploys Additional Patriot Batteries to Protect Saudi, Qatari Energy Sites

The US has deployed additional Patriot missile batteries to Saudi Arabia and Qatar in a move aimed at protecting key energy facilities from potential Iranian attacks.

The deployments were reportedly made amid concerns over renewed military operations against Iran, which have been fueled by President Donald Trump's statements on the matter.

In August, Axios reported that Saudi and Qatari leaders had urged Trump not to launch a major attack on Iran, citing fears of retaliation against their oil and gas facilities. US officials confirmed that these appeals were a key factor in Trump's decision to pursue economic pressure instead.

The US military has deployed two additional Patriot missile batteries: one to Saudi Arabia last month to protect a key oil facility, and another to Qatar to defend a natural gas facility. The deployments are intended to reassure both countries that Washington will protect their critical energy infrastructure if Trump resumes major combat operations against Iran.
