Corn Fest Brings Biofuels Education and Live Music to Downtown DeKalb

Corn Fest kicked off its weekend activities in downtown DeKalb, Illinois. The 49th annual event featured over 90 vendors spread across First and Fourth Street and Grove and Locust Street on Lincoln Highway.

The BMAC Trailer, a mobile education center for biofuels, made its ninth appearance at Corn Fest. It offered information on the production, importance, and economics of ethanol, citing that every bushel of corn produced in Illinois and Iowa can produce three gallons of ethanol blended into fuel supply.

The festival also showcased various performances at the Egyptian Theater, including medieval combat demonstrations and musical acts like Zachary Harris, who has performed there four times. The main stage featured big-name acts like Austin Hopkins and Kashmir, the Led Zeppelin Show.
