Corn Futures Close Higher Amid Decreased Demand and Low Export Sales
Corn futures ended Thursday's trading session on a high note, closing between 1 ¼ to 2 ¼ cents higher than the previous day. The CmdtyView national average Cash Corn price rose by 1 1/2 cent to $4.09 3/4.
The USDA released export sales data for corn, showing that 116,740 MT of corn were sold for the 2025/26 marketing year. This is a marketing year low and represents a decrease of 31.5% compared to the same week last year. South Korea was the largest buyer, purchasing 86,100 MT, followed by Colombia with 84,300 MT.
For the 2026/27 marketing year, sales totaled 1.027 MMT, which is on the higher side of expectations but slightly below the previous week's high and last year's total. Unknown destinations were the largest buyer, purchasing 490,400 MT, while Mexico and South Korea also made significant purchases.
Brazilian corn exports in July came in at 1.943 MMT, exceeding the month prior but still down 21.16% from the same period last year. ANEC estimates August's export total to be 4.08 MMT, a 3.26 MMT drop from last year if realized.
