Corn Futures Take Upward Turn Amid Strengthened Crop Estimates
Corn futures have taken on an upward trend as of September 29, according to DTN Progressive Farmer's interactive commodity chart.
The non-commercial traders held a net-long position of 509,501 contracts, while commercial traders were net-short with a position of 448,508 contracts. The December 2026 contract is priced 14 cents lower than the March 2027 contract, but this difference has weakened since late July as crop size estimates strengthened the overall trend.
The non-commercial traders' net-long position decreased by 26,300 contracts through the CFTC reporting period, while commercial traders were net-buyers of 26,303 contracts. The trend in most active corn futures is higher for now, but few bullish details emerged from trade meetings between President Trump and China's President Xi.
