The latest Crop Progress Report from the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) details the current state of various crops across selected states in the United States. The report, released on September 28, 2026, covers conditions as of September 27, 2026.

For corn, the report notes that the 18 selected states planted 91 percent of the 2025 corn acreage. As of September 27, 2026, 80 percent of the crop had reached maturity, surpassing the five-year average of 72 percent for the same date. Harvested corn in these states stood at 17 percent, matching the 2021-2025 average.

Soybeans showed a similar pattern of seasonal advancement, with 62 percent of the soybean crop having dropped leaves across the 18 selected states as of September 27, 2026. This is slightly lower than the five-year average of 75 percent for the same date. Harvested soybeans reached 17 percent in these states, compared to a five-year average of 17 percent.
