Gold Prices Plummet on Inflation Fears and Rate Hike Expectations

Gold prices took a hit on September 28th, 2026, as investors reacted to rising oil prices and expectations of another interest rate hike from the US Federal Reserve.

The spot price of gold fell by 1.5% to $4,223.95 per ounce, while US gold futures dropped 1.5% to $4,257.90 per ounce.

Earlier this month, the Fed raised interest rates by a quarter of a percentage point to between 3.75% and four percent.
