Corn Prices Jump as Export Shipments Soar
Corn futures have seen a significant increase in money flow on Monday, with prices up 14 to 15 cents at midday. The national average Cash Corn price is also up 15 cents at $4.97 1/4. According to the USDA's FGIS, corn export shipments for the week ending September 17 were 1.938 MMT (76.32 mbu), a 24.9% increase from the previous week and 39.87% above the same period last year.
Japan was the top destination for these exports, receiving 591,923 MT of corn, followed by Mexico at 540,979 MT and Colombia at 259,441 MT. Marketing year exports for 2026/27 are currently at 4.139 MMT (162.93 mbu), a 15.94% increase from the same period last year.
The Commitment of Traders data from CFTC showed managed money adding back 1,671 contracts to their net long position in corn futures and options, with their net long position now at 426,842 contracts as of September 15.
