Côte d'Ivoire Seals Floating LNG Import Deal with EXMAR

EXMAR has signed agreements with Côte d'Ivoire Energies and Société Nationale d'Opérations Pétrolières de la Côte d'Ivoire (Petroci) to lease a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) for 10 years. The FSRU, which will be operated and maintained by EXMAR in the Port of Abidjan, is expected to generate around $21.3 million in yearly earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization.

The FSRU will allow Petroci to source liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the international market and import it into Côte d'Ivoire, where it will be regasified and delivered to CI-Energies to produce electricity. The project is expected to meet the growing demand for natural gas and power in Côte d'Ivoire, as well as provide additional supply to neighboring countries.

EXMAR CEO emphasized that this project highlights their floating infrastructure solutions as a quick-to-market and competitive solution for securing strategic energy supply. Petroci added that the FSRU represents an important step forward in strengthening energy security by providing an additional and flexible source of natural gas, complementary to domestic production and existing infrastructure.
