Cotton Futures Climb Across Most Front Months

Cotton futures rose across most front months on Tuesday, with prices increasing by as much as 53 points. The US dollar index was down $0.003, while crude oil gained $0.1.10 per barrel.

The Weekly Crop Progress data showed that 65% of the US cotton crop had set bolls as of Sunday, but condition ratings were down 2 percentage points to 40% good/excellent. The Brugler500 index fell by 6 points to 319, with Texas ratings dropping 11 points and Georgia rising 3 points.

The Cotlook A Index increased by 125 points on August 8 to reach 95.95 cents per pound. ICE certified cotton stocks decreased by 2,119 bales on Monday, reaching a total of 82,513 bales. The Adjusted World Price was raised by 163 points last week to 66.29 cents per pound.
