Dangote Rejects 15.5M Barrels of Crude Oil Offered by Producers in Q2
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has reported that Dangote Petroleum Refinery rejected approximately 15.5 million barrels of crude oil offered to it by producers in the second quarter of 2026.
The report, released on Monday, showed that during the three-month period, producers offered a total of 68.1 million barrels of crude to the refinery, but Dangote accepted only 52.6 million barrels, representing 78% of the volume offered.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery disputed the claim, asking for statistics to support it. The NUPRC attributed the improvement in Domestic Crude Supply Obligation (DCSO) performance to increased local oil production and the signing of long-term crude supply agreements backed by bankable sales and purchase agreements between producers and domestic refiners.
The commission stated that it aims to sustain recent gains in crude oil production while enforcing the DCSO framework, which requires oil producers to make crude available to domestic refineries in line with the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act.
