Denmark Protestors Demand End to LNG Tanker Repairs for Russia

A coalition of civil society organizations protested in Copenhagen on October 1 against Danish shipyard Fayard's continued servicing of vessels transporting Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Fayard is the last known EU shipyard still maintaining a fleet of specialized Arc7 tankers that export LNG from Russia's Arctic north.

Critics say that aiding Russian energy trade contradicts Denmark's support for Ukraine, and the protest organizers demand that Fayard stop servicing the tankers immediately.

The EU-wide ban on Russian LNG imports will take effect from January 1, 2027, but sanctions pressure has slackened since the bloc granted an exemption to Greek shipping company Dynagas to keep transporting Russian LNG to third countries after 2027.
