Diesel Prices Soar Past $6 per Gallon Amid Global Conflict

The US national average price of diesel has broken through the $6 per gallon barrier for the first time ever, according to data from GasBuddy.

This milestone comes as crude oil futures hit their highest level since mid-May, with Brent settling at $107.63 a barrel and West Texas Intermediate futures at $102.48 a barrel on Thursday.

The surge in fuel costs is adding to inflationary pressures that have already strained consumers and businesses this year, posing a challenge for President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers as they seek to defend thin congressional majorities in November's midterm elections.
