Dollar Weakened Amid Mixed Base Metals Performance
The US dollar weakened overnight, falling 0.1% to 99.56 according to the index.
Base metals showed mixed performance on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) with SHFE nickel rising 1.47%, but SHFE zinc fell 0.47%. The most-traded alumina futures contract fell 0.77%, while the most-traded cast aluminum contract rose 0.81%.
LME base metals also showed mixed performance, with LME copper rising 0.31% and LME aluminum rising 0.67%. However, LME lead fell 0.86% and LME zinc fell 0.69%.
COMEX gold rose 0.86%, while COMEX silver also rose 0.86%. The most-traded SHFE gold contract rose 0.86%, but the most-traded SHFE silver contract rose a higher 1.06%.
