Dubai Gold Rates Decline as US Employment Data Boosts Rate Hike Expectations
Dubai gold rates declined on Saturday after stronger-than-expected US employment data increased expectations of a Federal Reserve interest rate hike this month.
The Dubai Jewellery Group reported that 24K gold stood at Dh533.75 per gram, down Dh5.50 from Friday's Dh539.25.
This comes after a volatile week in which Dubai gold prices first climbed sharply before giving back some of their gains.
The stronger labour-market figures pushed expectations for a September Federal Reserve rate increase higher, with interest-rate futures indicating roughly a 65 percent chance of a hike at the Fed's September 15-16 meeting, up from about 55 percent before the jobs report.
