Dutch Producer Prices Climb 5.2% YoY in July Amid Crude Oil Price Surge
The Dutch producer price index (PPI) rose by 5.2% in July 2026 compared to the same month last year, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS). This increase follows a 4.3% annual gain in June 2026.
The surge in PPI is largely attributed to higher crude oil costs. In July 2026, Brent North Sea crude averaged above 73 euros per barrel, marking a near 24% year-on-year jump. This significant increase in oil prices has put upward pressure on output prices due to ties with Middle East geopolitical tensions.
Petroleum product prices also saw a notable rise, increasing by 42.7% year-over-year in July, compared to June's 26% annual gain. Chemical industry output prices tend to follow crude oil trends but with a delay, and in July 2026, they stood 12.3% above their June 2025 level.
