Egypt Boosts Oil, Gas Production Amid Plans for Increased Investment
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi to review developments in Egypt's oil, gas, and mining sectors.
The meeting highlighted the readiness of Egypt's natural gas supply system, which maintained regular supplies to power plants and industrial facilities during peak summer consumption periods.
Badawi emphasized efforts to increase oil and natural gas production and attract new investments, including paying outstanding dues to foreign partners in June 2026 to restore investor confidence.
The minister also announced plans to add around 250 million cubic feet per day (mmcf/d) to domestic gas production from the Zohr and West Mina fields before the end of 2026, with an additional 80 mmcf/d expected from the Meleha fields in the Western Desert by September.
Badawi highlighted refineries' improved utilization, increasing from 66% to over 80%, which has led to increased domestic production of gasoline and diesel and reduced imports.
