Egypt Cracks Top Flour Exporter Ranks Amid Global Market Competition
Egypt has emerged as a significant player in the global flour market, challenging traditional exporters like Turkey and Kazakhstan. The country's annual flour exports have reached around 1.5 million tons, with Sudan being its main destination accounting for about 1 million tons of shipments.
The remaining volumes are mainly supplied to other African countries, enabling Egypt to expand its presence in markets with strong demand for imported flour. This growing role is also crucial for the global wheat market as Egypt remains one of the world's largest wheat importers.
A portion of the imported grain is processed domestically and then exported as higher-value-added products. For comparison, Turkey exported around 2.4 million tons of flour in 2025, maintaining its leading position in global trade, while Kazakhstan shipped approximately 1.9 million tons to foreign markets in 2025.
