Egypt Port Drone Attack Raises Suspicions of Iran's Involvement

An attack on two gas carriers at Egypt's Damietta port has left significant damage and is being investigated for possible Iranian involvement.

The drone assault struck the American-owned floating storage and regasification unit Energos Winter, igniting a blaze that spread to the neighboring 155,000 cubic meter LNG vessel GasLog Salem. Firefighting crews managed to put out the flames, but both ships were relocated away from the dock for further inspection.

Egyptian officials have not yet provided a comprehensive report on the extent of the damage or a timeline for potential return to service, but initial assessments indicate that Energos Winter suffered damage on its starboard side and GasLog Salem had effects near its forward cargo-tank section.
