The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported a net injection of 40 Bcf into underground natural gas storage during the week ended September 4. This figure is lower than historical norms, but still exceeded consensus forecasts.

Despite this lean injection, the EIA's report did not trigger a significant price reaction in the market. The South Central region led injections, while the East saw more modest gains. Year-over-year comparisons showed a 19% decline in salt storage levels in the South Central area.
