Enamelled Wire Industry Sees Operating Rate Decline Amid Off-Season Weakness

The enamelled wire industry saw its operating rate decline further this week, slipping to 72.00% WoW from last week's 73.4%. This drop in production comes as the industry enters its traditional off-season, with end-user demand remaining weak.

The elevated copper prices have also contributed to the decrease in orders, with weekly orders pulling back 1.85% WoW. As a result of these factors, downstream companies are exhibiting caution, hesitant to place new orders due to concerns over high prices.

In response to the weakening demand, manufacturers are adjusting their production schedules, resulting in a significant drop in finished product inventories to just 10.03 days. While inventories did pull back WoW, they remain at relatively high levels overall.
