Eni and Egypt Speed Up Gas Field Development Plans
Egypt and Italian energy giant Eni are working together to accelerate gas field development in the Mediterranean and Western Desert. The two parties met recently to review ongoing projects and discuss plans to boost production and explore new oil and gas exploration opportunities.
Eni has been operating in Egypt since 1954, producing around 242,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2025. The company is the leading hydrocarbon producer in Egypt and holds a 50 percent contractor working interest in the Denise Development Lease, along with British energy giant BP.
The Denise offshore gas field, located in Egypt's Temsah Concession on the country's Eastern Mediterranean coast, is expected to produce 130,000 barrels of condensate daily and around 2 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas. The company aims to bring the field into production as soon as possible.
