EU Explores Alternative Routes for Ukrainian Grain Exports

The European Union is exploring alternative routes to support Ukraine's grain exports, which have been disrupted by low water levels on the Danube and a decline in Black Sea shipments.

In a statement, EU Agriculture Commissioner Christophe Hansen said that the bloc remains in talks with Ukraine and neighboring countries on expanding logistics. The EU Solidarity Lanes are one of the key options being considered, but efforts to increase shipments have been complicated by low water levels on the Danube.

The situation has resulted in lower agricultural production in the EU due to severe heat and drought, which is expected to impact global food security. Hansen warned that European production could result in shortages elsewhere in the world.
