Global Corn Market Faces Tight Supply-Demand Balance Amid Declining Stocks

The global corn market is entering a new season with declining stocks and a tighter supply-demand balance. The US, the world's largest corn producer, is expected to have ending stocks of 1.653 billion bushels for the 2026/27 season. Domestic use is forecast at 16.33 billion bushels, which will put additional pressure on the US balance.

Meanwhile, Europe is facing a deteriorating crop outlook due to heat and insufficient moisture. Corn production in the EU and UK could decline by 4.7 million tons from last season's 57.4 million tons, according to COCERAL.

Brazil is another potential risk factor as producers continue to face high production costs. The global balance is already tight, so any deterioration in crop or export prospects among major suppliers could quickly affect corn availability on the international market.

The market is pricing in the risk of tighter supplies from major producers and exporters. With only a narrow margin between global production and consumption, further stock declines could leave corn prices sensitive to weather risks, changes in yields, and supply disruptions.
