Excelerate Energy and AxDo Bahamas have signed an 11-year agreement to support the development of the Bahamas LNG Hub, an offshore terminal near Grand Bahama. AxDo, a joint venture between Axpo and Domicisle LNG, will serve as the anchor customer, with deliveries of up to 16 trillion British thermal units (TBtu) of LNG annually.

The project aims to meet growing demand for LNG in The Bahamas and the broader Caribbean, combining AxDo’s shipping expertise with Excelerate’s infrastructure. Initial deliveries are expected in 2027, with a floating storage unit (FSU) planned for 2028, subject to permitting and construction timelines.

Oliver Simpson, Excelerate’s Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the potential of the hub to expand natural gas access across the region. Daniele Corti of Axpo emphasized the importance of reliable energy for the Caribbean’s development, while Greg Buffington of Domicisle LNG noted the agreement’s role in enhancing energy security and economic growth.

The Bahamas LNG Hub is strategically positioned to support cruise ship bunkering, power generation, and regional distribution, leveraging Grand Bahama’s location in a busy maritime corridor.
