Excellon Resources has reached a significant milestone in its journey to become a silver producer. On August 5, 2026, the company announced that it had produced its first concentrate at the Mallay silver-lead-zinc mine in Peru.

The timing of this achievement is fortunate, as silver prices have risen significantly over the past year, with spot prices reaching around $61.83 an ounce in early August. This represents a 60% increase from the same period last year, when prices were around $37.82 an ounce.

Excellon's Mallay mine is one of several assets held by the company, which has been working to revive the mine and bring it back into commercial production. The company has secured funding from Glencore and has also received support from well-known resources investor Eric Sprott.
